Spring Car Cleaning Tips

Spring Car Cleaning Tips

Getting behind the wheel of a clean car is such an enjoyable feeling that we encourage all drivers to clean their vehicles constantly. The transition from winter to spring represents a fantastic opportunity to do just that! We have some useful spring car cleaning tips to help you enjoy the warm spring weather.

  • Exterior – Giving the exterior of your vehicle a good wash is a great way to remove salt, grime, and other debris while protecting the paint. It may be worthwhile to remove the hubcaps to get to the wheel wells too. Afterward, consider waxing your vehicle to leave it shining brightly in the sunlight for weeks to come.
  • Interior – Take to the upholstery with a damp towel to remove any dirt that’s found its way into the seats. It wouldn’t hurt to vacuum thoroughly either. Invest in some specialized leather cleaner if your car has leather seats to leave a shine you’ll enjoy every time you get behind the wheel.
  • Under the Hood – Making sure there’s nothing odd stuck under the hood is another part of spring car cleaning. Keep an eye out for anything that looks abnormal and check the belts and hoses while you’re at it. Clean the battery connections if possible.

If you’d rather just get a new car instead of cleaning your old one, feel free to stop by and see us here at Nick Nicholas Ford. We’ll be happy to help you find your next dream car.

Ford-Magna Partnership Targets Carbon Fiber Subframes

Ford-Magna Partnership

Automakers are constantly pushing the limits for performance and fuel economy by recreating and refining powertrains. Ford is one of the few automakers taking measures to improve fuel economy by dropping weight as well. The manufacturer recently partnered up with Magna to create new carbon fiber subframes.

No matter the make or model, odds are a vehicle’s subframe is primarily made of traditional metals; the new Ford-Magna partnership looks to change that. The pair have created what could very well become the next generation of automotive engineering.

New carbon fiber subframes could dramatically reduce the weight of a vehicle. A subframe made from carbon fiber cuts weight by around 34%, compared to a traditional subframe. The newest innovation is made of two molded pieces and four metal components. By comparison, a traditional subframe is made from 45 steel parts.

Surely a lightweight carbon fiber subframe is weak, right? Wrong. In fact, a carbon fiber subframe has passed all of Magna’s testing and is just as durable as a standard subframe. Ford and Magna have a history together when it comes to performance. Magna developed the Mustang Shelby Cobra GT500’s carbon fiber grille opening reinforcement, among other projects. A lighter subframe would lead to weight reduction, increased performance, and a rise in fuel efficiency.

We can’t wait to see the production results of the Ford-Magna partnership here at Nick Nicholas Ford!

2017 Ford Super Duty technology

Ford Super Duty Technology: State-of-the-Art Systems

Ford put the new Super Duty to the test by asking real-world customers what they appreciated most about the model, as well as what they would like to see more of. The answers came back, showing overwhelmingly that the new Super Duty technology was not only impressive, but customers can’t get enough of it.

According to Ford, the Ford Super Duty technology is truly advanced, especially when you opt for the Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims. The all-new pickup features 20 class-exclusive technologies and features, as well as a number of performance systems to improve towing and hauling. Among the most popular features are Adaptive Steering, Trailer Reverse Guidance, Adaptive Cruise Control, and BLIS, among others.

“Technology innovation is proving to be a differentiator,” said John Rieger, Ford Super Duty consumer marketing manager. “Our 20 class-exclusive, driver-assist technologies help increase productivity and boost driver confidence − especially when serving Super Duty’s primary mission of towing long, heavy trailers.”

When properly equipped, the new Super Duty can tow up to 32,500 pounds and it has a payload capacity of 7,630 pounds. While the powertrain is certainly the source of raw performance, new technologies also help you drive with this heavy payload. For example, rearview cameras and cross-traffic alert are ideal for towing and hauling in tight situations. For a truly advanced pickup, check out the new Ford Super Duty lineup.

We’re Finally Getting a New Ford Bronco!

If you’re like us, you’ve been waiting since 1996 to get your hands on another Ford Bronco. Who knew that it would take more than 20 years to get there! There have been rumblings and rumors over the past few months as to whether Ford was bringing back the Bronco, but now we know it’s true! Here’s what we know so far about the return of this great SUV.

2017 Ford Everest - Bronco inspiration

Shown is the Ford Everest, reportedly the vehicle the Bronco will most closely resemble.

It has a lot in common with other Ford models: A recent Reddit AMA revealed more about its influences: “It will be very similar to the current Ford Everest…many suspension and powertrain parts will be common between the Ranger and Bronco.” If you’re not familiar with the Everest, don’t worry – it’s Australia’s current Ford SUV, will be a huge point of inspiration for the new Bronco model.

There still isn’t a public Bronco concept: Even at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit they only revealed more graphics of the name. No specifications, dimensions or other details have been revealed.

It will be assembled in the U.S.: Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant will be extra busy in a few years! Ford’s all-American brand holds true, keeping more Michigan residents employed.

It’s not messing around: Ford’s Joe Hinrichs has described the upcoming Bronco as “a no-compromise midsize 4×4 utility for the thrill-seekers who want freedom and off-road functionality, with the space and versatility of an SUV. It’s capable of conquering everything from your daily commute to gravel roads and boulders.” Even a panoramic sunroof option has been confirmed!

We’re more than excited to see more details come out about this SUV. The Ford Bronco already has 30 years of history (and plenty of pop culture references) and we can’t wait for 2020! You’d better believe that we’ll share any info we have about this model, but don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions!

Ford’s Last 35 Years – Celebrating Nick Nicholas Ford’s Anniversary!

Nick Nicholas Ford 35th anniversary - Inverness, Florida

We here at Nick Nicholas Ford are celebrating the 35th anniversary of the dealership and, to commemorate the date, we want to look back at Ford’s last 35 years. The last three decades haven’t been without their fair share of problems but we’re proud to say we powered through, just like the Ford F-150 would.

1981 Ford Escort

In 1981, the year the dealership was founded, the fifth-generation Ford Escort officially hit the market. The car shared components with the European model. As a result of the “world” car, Ford added an “Escort” badge over a glove. The Escort eventually became one of the best-selling models of the decade.

Just a few years later in 1985, Ford revolutionized the world of automotive design with the Taurus full-size sedan. The curving lines broke the box-car type bodies that most vehicles held at the time.

1990 brought the Ford Explorer, effectively spurring the launch of the SUV segment. The Explorer quickly out-classed standard station wagons and served as an excellent replacement for the Ford Bronco.

1996 brought innovation that predicted the rise of hybrid and electric vehicles. The Ford Ranger Electric Vehicle boasted features like regenerative braking, lead acid batteries, and a 700-pound payload.

2004 saw Ford brought the GT supercar to the road. The performance-driven model was inspired by the GT40 that ruled the 24 Hours of Le Mans Race in the 1960s.

In 2009, Ford revolutionized performance by offering turbocharged EcoBoost engines. Today, those engines are found in many models throughout Ford’s lineup.

Celebrate with us for the remainder of the year – it’s party time! With new 2017 models in stock already, we’re ready for a new year!

2017 Ford Super Duty Test Drive Tour

The all-new 2017 Ford Super Duty will be here at the end of this year. But before then, Ford is giving consumers an opportunity to take it for an early test drive before it arrives at most dealerships. Now through November 13th, there will be 29 2017 Ford Super Duty test drive events across the country.

2017 Ford Super Duty test drive event - Florida

Where and how can I drive one?

While there are, of course, numerous events in hardcore truck areas like Texas and rural areas, Ford didn’t forget about us here in Florida. From October 13th through the 16th, Ford will be at Biketoberfest in Ormond Beach with multiple trucks available to drive.

Head to SuperDutyDrive.com to register for the event and schedule a test drive. While registration is not required and you can participate just by going, if you do register, you are automatically entered to win a 2017 Ford Super Duty truck. If you actually attend the event, you will have 10x the chances to win.

At the event, Ford will have a variety of well-equipped Super Duty trucks, including F-250, F-350, and F-450 models in Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims. These trucks will feature both the 6.2-liter V8 gasoline engine and the 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo diesel.

Staying Connected with Ford SYNC Technology

With issues such as texting and driving and whether drivers should be using their cell phones at all coming to the forefront of modern news outlets, it’s clear that a consensus needs to be reached in order to preserve the safety of drivers on the road. In today’s auto industry, more and more vehicles are coming standard with systems that allow for phone connectivity and voice recognition so that car owners can keep their eyes on the road while remaining a voice command away from phone calls. Ford SYNC technology is Ford’s response to this growing need for staying connected.

Ford SYNC technology

Ford SYNC comes in three different types. Basic SYNC technology includes the ability to use voice commands to navigate between streaming music, accessing apps, and making phone calls. SYNC with MyFord Touch allows for all of these same features, plus it comes with a four-quadrant LCD touchscreen, making its menu even more accessible and convenient. On top of everything else, there is the new SYNC3, which is completely redesigned and delivers the next-generation of voice-activation technology. SYNC3 has an all-new design, interface, and features, engineered to be as intuitive as possible.

In addition to hands-free calling, the Ford SYNC technology can also provide 911 Assist, which can call emergency services for assistance even when you can’t, at no extra charge. Plus, SYNC with MyFord Touch and SYNC3 also come with SiriusXM Traffic and TravelLink navigational systems to make your trips safer and more convenient.

Ford Partnership with Petty’s Garage Produces Mustang GT King Editions

Mustang GT King Editions

Ford recently announced their collaboration with NASCAR icon Richard Petty in creating three special edition Ford Mustangs. Petty’s Garage used a 2016 model as a base and built the new versions to Petty’s specifications to create some of the most powerful and performance-focused Mutangs yet. The Mustang GT King editions are capable of up to a striking 727hp.

The way this feat was achieved is no small matter. Petty’s Garage took the standard 5.0-liter engine and added the Ford Performance supercharger to boost the horsepower output to 670. If consumers want the 727hp mentioned above, they have the option of upgrading the engine with a smaller supercharger pulley, which is what gives the Mustang GT King edition its incredible power.

If you’d like to get your hands on one, these special editions will be in limited quantity, but can be ordered from your local Ford dealership. Petty’s Garage will be producing 243 King edition models, 43 of the King Premier, and 14 King Premier convertibles. In addition to the enhanced performance, all Mustang GT King editions come with sleek matte black accents, including black 20-inch wheels.

Not sure about you, but all of us here at Nick Nicholas Ford think these special editions are pretty sweet! Tell us what you think below in the comments!
