Ford’s Last 35 Years – Celebrating Nick Nicholas Ford’s Anniversary!

Nick Nicholas Ford 35th anniversary - Inverness, Florida

We here at Nick Nicholas Ford are celebrating the 35th anniversary of the dealership and, to commemorate the date, we want to look back at Ford’s last 35 years. The last three decades haven’t been without their fair share of problems but we’re proud to say we powered through, just like the Ford F-150 would.

1981 Ford Escort

In 1981, the year the dealership was founded, the fifth-generation Ford Escort officially hit the market. The car shared components with the European model. As a result of the “world” car, Ford added an “Escort” badge over a glove. The Escort eventually became one of the best-selling models of the decade.

Just a few years later in 1985, Ford revolutionized the world of automotive design with the Taurus full-size sedan. The curving lines broke the box-car type bodies that most vehicles held at the time.

1990 brought the Ford Explorer, effectively spurring the launch of the SUV segment. The Explorer quickly out-classed standard station wagons and served as an excellent replacement for the Ford Bronco.

1996 brought innovation that predicted the rise of hybrid and electric vehicles. The Ford Ranger Electric Vehicle boasted features like regenerative braking, lead acid batteries, and a 700-pound payload.

2004 saw Ford brought the GT supercar to the road. The performance-driven model was inspired by the GT40 that ruled the 24 Hours of Le Mans Race in the 1960s.

In 2009, Ford revolutionized performance by offering turbocharged EcoBoost engines. Today, those engines are found in many models throughout Ford’s lineup.

Celebrate with us for the remainder of the year – it’s party time! With new 2017 models in stock already, we’re ready for a new year!

Don’t Forget These Sunscreen Tips This Summer

Now that the weather is warm and people are spending more time outside, it’s more important than ever to have a regular sunscreen routine, and that’s something we truly know all about down here in the Sunshine state. However, sun damage causes faster skin aging and can even be lethal if not kept in check.

Here are some sunscreen tips to keep you free from burns this year:

  • If you’re picking up a bottle of sunscreen from last summer, make sure that it hasn’t Sunscreen Tipsexpired.
  • Purchase sunscreen that has at least SPF 30 and provides broad-spectrum coverage, meaning it will protect you from both UVA and UVB rays.
  • Be sure to reapply your sunscreen as directed on the product, which is usually about every two hours or after getting in the water.
  • Don’t forget smaller patches of exposed skin, such as the tops of your feet, the back of your neck, or your ears.
  • Lastly, consult a professional at least once a year about your skin. Whether you just ask your primary care doctor to give you a once over or go to a dermatologist, rest soundly knowing you don’t have any suspicious moles.

Do you have any other sunscreen tips? Let us know your ideas in the comments!

Celebrate Car Care Month this April

Car Care Month

Spring is one of the best times of the year. It marks a fresh start of a warmer season and it also plays host to Car Care Month in April. This month is a perfect time to get started on those repair projects that have been neglected and begin a routine maintenance schedule if you haven’t already.

Getting the small things fixed on your vehicle is an important step in preventing them from becoming larger and costlier problems down the road. That check engine light, wobbly tire, funny sound, or broken body panel can be addressed this month and save you some heartache this upcoming summer or fall.

Once you complete that repair project, we highly recommend a routine maintenance schedule to make sure the components of your car are addressed throughout the months and years to come. The belts, hoses, spark plugs, wires, air filter, and fluid levels all have shelf-lives of either months, years, and/or miles driven therefore need to be replaced periodically.

Whether learning to do it yourself, or taking it in to an expert mechanic at Nick Nicholas Ford, celebrate that bond we all have to our vehicles by caring for it this April.
