2016 Ford Transit Connect Updates Add More Tech

You may not know it, but Ford has America’s best-selling van: the Transit. This van is getting even more technology and safety features. Ford Transit Connect updates for the 2016 model year include a rearview camera, SYNC 3, and more customization options.

“These and other updates make the 2016 Ford Transit the smartest, most flexible van ever offered by Ford,” said Yaro Hetman, Ford brand manager for Transit, Transit Connect and E-Series, in a statement. “Transit replaces America’s best-selling van for 35 years, E-Series, first sold in 1961 as Ford Econoline, and we look forward to continuing our leadership in this important segment.”

Ford Transit Connect Updates

The Transit is Ford’s best-selling commercial van. Ford’s smaller commercial van is the Transit Connect. Also, there is a third version, the Transit Connect Wagon, which is for personal use.

With the SYNC 3 option, this will give the Transit more communication and entertainment options. It is faster and more intuitive to use than the current SYNC system and drivers will be able to use conversational voice recognition to operate the system.

Coming as new standard equipment will be a rearview camera with trailer hitch assist technology. This feature will turn on automatically when the Transit is put in reverse. It will have a graphical overlap on the screen to help guide drivers when trying to connect a trailer.

The 2016 Ford Transit, Transit Connect, and Transit Connect Wagon will begin arriving at Nick Nicholas Ford in September. We can’t wait!

Ford F-750 TONKA Truck Brings Playtime to Life

Ford F-750 TONKA Truck

Remember that yellow TONKA dump truck – the iconic staple of childhood sandboxes everywhere?  In partnership with TONKA, Ford recently unveiled its version of a real-life TONKA dump truck, and while it might look like a giant toy, this truck can do serious work.

Built to showcase the all-new 2016 F-650/F-750 work truck’s capabilities, the massive yellow dump truck is nearly ten feet tall and is powered by 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8. The unique V8 puts out three different levels of output: 270 hp with 675 lb-ft of torque, 300 hp with 700 lb-ft of torque, and 330 hp with a ridiculous 725 lb-ft of torque. The variety of ratings allows drivers to scale engine power depending on the needs of individual tasks.

“From Generation Z to the Greatest Generation, Ford and TONKA continue to set the standards for tough trucks,” said John Ruppert, general manager, Ford Commercial Vehicle Sales and Marketing in a statement. “People of all ages have been counting on Ford F-Series and TONKA trucks to get the job done – from construction site to sandbox – for more than 60 years.”

The Ford F-750 TONKA truck was first displayed at the NTEA Work Truck show, and will continue to be showcased at a variety of work truck, commercial, and vocational trade shows through the end of the year. We encourage you to stop by and visit us here at Nick Nicholas Ford, where we offer a variety of powerful pickups to help you get the job done.
