The 2016 Ford Focus is already one of our most popular cars at Nick Nicholas Ford, and it’s about to get even better.
Ford has announced that the Focus RS will be the first car in North America to offer a winter tire and wheel option as a factory accessory, allowing it to conquer the roads with even more ease whether they be bare or covered in snow.
The winter wheel and tire package will be offered as an option for $1,995 and include 225/40R18 Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 tires wrapped around 18- by 7.5-inch wheels. The wheels are also adorned in a sparkle silver designed to hide salt spray.
The automaker claims it developed a special set of standards and procedures to develop the rubber for the winter tire and even sent teams to Northern Michigan and Sweden for testing.
It doesn’t snow all that much down here in Florida, but if you think you’ll be driving north in the winter with your new Focus RS, be sure to ask Nick Nicholas Ford to install it before you take delivery!
The new Ford Focus RS just rolled off the lines from the manufacturing plant in Saarlouis, Germany, a high-performance design that is pushing the boundaries of automotive design. The new Focus RS features a 350-horsepower powertrain, with a hatchback body style and a range of performance-oriented features.
According to Ford, the new RS is one of several models that feature high-performance design for the 2016 model year, alongside the F-150 Raptor and a new GT design. While the Focus remains one of the most popular cars on the market, Ford is looking to push the envelope when it comes to innovative designs.
“The arrival of Focus RS in the United States this spring adds to a potent hot hatch lineup. Ford’s Focus ST and Fiesta ST both have enjoyed critical acclaim and success. Sales of the Focus ST increased 9% last year while Fiesta ST saw a gain of 4%,” read a Ford press release.
The release of the Ford Focus RS is part of a larger goal by the brand to develop 12 high-performance designs by 2020. Features like the Performance All-Wheel Drive system and the Dynamic Torque Vectoring add speed, handling, and grip. The RS will also get selectable drive modes such as drift mode and launch control. We can’t wait to see the RS hit the US market sometime this spring.
At the New York International Auto Show, Ford introduced the third generation Ford Focus RS. However, this is the first generation of the hot hatch that we get to experience here in the U.S. and we at Nick Nicholas Ford couldn’t be more excited.
“Customers have begged for the Focus RS to come to the United States for years,” said Raj Nair, Ford’s group vice president of Global Product Development, in a press release. “And now we can say they are getting one of the most innovative, powerful and best-looking RS cars ever. That is special.
“The RS line has a proud history of technical breakthroughs,” he added. “It’s a great example of our passion for innovation through performance, and creating vehicles that make people’s hearts pound.”
Based on the Ford Focus we already know and love, the all-new RS model features design modifications from the trapezoidal grille to the enlarged diffuser at the rear that serve to enhance the vehicle’s performance as well as its aesthetic. The RS is outfitted with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine for efficiency and Ford’s Performance All-Wheel Drive system for control as owners take to the track with all 315-plus horsepower the model has to offer.
The Focus RS is scheduled to arrive in the U.S. next spring from Ford’s manufacturing plant in Saarlouis, Germany; and we are already counting down the days here at Nick Nicholas Ford!
