2017 Ford F-150 to Get New, Powerful Ford EcoBoost V6 Engine

Ford is an automaker known for putting powerful engines into powerful cars – such as the beloved Ford F-150 lineup. Now, one of their most popular engines is getting a huge upgrade.

Model Overview

The 2017 Ford F-150 will be fueled by the new Ford EcoBoost V6 engine. This truck is slated to be the best in its class and to even rival the strength of many diesel engines and V8 engines. It will also make the new Ford F-150 one of the most formidable trucks on the road.2017 Ford F-150 - Ford EcoBoost V6 Engine

The new engine also releases up to 470 lb-ft of torque. This is an improvement of 50 lb-ft over its predecessor – an enormous change from one model to the next. In addition, the F-series trucks are already best-selling vehicles, and this update just makes them greater!

Ford Releases Video of Trail Testing The New Raptor

The F-150 Raptor was first introduced back in 2010, and from the very beginning the Raptor was made to go where other trucks fear to go. Enhancements like a wider body and performance-tuned suspension helped the Raptor negotiate any terrain.

The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor was revealed this year at a number of auto shows. Redesigned and looking more capable and aggressive than ever, the Raptor garnered enormous attention—and that’s saying a lot, considering it was revealed right alongside the new Mustang and the new GT.

Ford recently released footage of trail testing the new Raptor. They released a few gifs and a video here showing the truck plowing through a tight, muddy trail and a small creek. They are the stuff to make you acutely jealous of a test driver.

The 2017 Ford Raptor will come outfitted with an “all-new four-wheel-drive, torque-on-demand transfer case.” The technology deftly “manages power distribution between the front and rear wheels.”

Alternative Fuel Capable 2016 Ford F-150 Coming Soon

The upcoming 2016 Ford F-150 will be the only light-duty-pickup truck that has the capability to run on either compressed natural gas or propane. Pretty cool, right? We thought so too!

2016 Ford F-150

The new F-150 will come with a gaseous-fuel prep package allowing it to run on either fuel. The upcoming model will be another alternative fuel capable vehicle offered in Ford’s prestigious lineup, 57,000 of which have been sold up until now.

Also, if you were worried about the alternative fuels impacting the F-150’s ability to tow as much as the traditional gasoline model, don’t! The 5.8-liter V8 will still be able to haul just as much with CNG or propane as it does with gasoline.

When asked about the upcoming model, Jon Coleman, Ford fleet sustainability and technology manager, said, “We expect the gaseous-fuel prep package will be even more popular than it was on the 2014 F-150 with the 3.7-liter V6 engine, given the capability of the 2016 F-150 5.0-liter V8.”

Kansas City Assembly Plant Rolls Out Even More Ford F-150s

It’s not easy being at the top. The Ford F-150 is not only the best-selling truck in the country but also the best-selling vehicle, which means the Blue Oval brand has to stay on top of its production game to keep up.

Kansas City Assembly Plant

The newest truck, the 2015 F-150, is only spending an average 18 days at Nick Nicholas Ford and other dealerships before finding a new home, and last month was its best month in over ten years. More people want it than ever, but it’s not easy keeping the supply up with the demand.

The solution? Build more trucks, of course! The Kansas City Assembly Plant has been building F-150 for decades, but it couldn’t build the new all-aluminum model because of how different and advanced it is. Fortunately, Ford has just completed a $1.1 billion expansion to accommodate the 2015 F-150, including body shop and paint shop upgrades as well as a brand new road-test course.

The update also brought in 900 jobs. The new guys will help Ford bring its production up to about 700,000 trucks a year, which might not even be cutting it as the automaker tends to sell more than 60,000 a month—adding up to 720,000 a year!

If you’re loving the new F-150 as much as we are, come and see us today at Nick Nicholas Ford and take it out for a test drive!

F-Series, Explorer, Mustang Boost February Ford Sales

It may come as no surprise that the Ford F-series led the way for February Ford sales, as it is the best-selling vehicle in the country. In total, Ford sold 180,383 vehicles in February and the F-series recorded a 7 percent increase compared to January.

Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president of U.S. Marketing Sales and Service, said, “The all-new F-150 continues to be the hottest vehicle on dealer lots, turning more than four times faster than the industry’s overall full-size pickup segment.”

February Ford Sales

In addition to the F-Series, the Ford Explorer, Mustang and Transit all posted positive February increases as well. The Transit accounted for a 30 percent increase, marking Ford’s best February van sales since 2007.

The Mustang enjoyed a 32 percent increase, as did the Ford Explorer. The increase marked the Mustang’s top February sales since 2007 and designated it as the best-selling sports car in America! It was also the Explorer’s best February since 2006.

It’s no hidden secret that America is loving the new Ford lineup! To check out the Ford F-Series, Mustang, or Explorer, stop by Nick Nicholas Ford today!

Ford F-150 & Focus Named on Top Greenest Vehicles List

Is one of your goals for 2015 to lower your impact on the environment? If you said yes, then we have two great vehicles for you. The Ford F-150 pickup truck and Ford Focus hatchback were recently named on the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy’s (ACEEE) Top Greenest Vehicles list, making our models two of the most environmentally friendly vehicles for consumers in 2015.

Top Greenest Vehicles

The F-150 was recognized as the greenest standard pickup, which is no surprise. This innovative pickup comes standard with a 2.7-liter EcoBoost that allows the pickup to achieve an EPA-estimated rating of 22 miles per gallon combined. Aluminum is also used throughout the truck’s body to reduce its body weight.  The Focus was recognized as one of the twelve overall greenest vehicles on the market, making it a terrific choice if you want a fun ride without sacrificing fuel economy.

New 2016 Ford F-150 Raptor Sharpens Talons, Hits The Gym

The Ford Raptor from last year’s Detroit Auto Show

If you saw Ford’s display at the recent Detroit Auto Show then you’ll know that Ford enthusiasts will soon be the center of attention at any upcoming off-road parties, and the last truck standing at any off-road competitions.

Like its name suggests, the 2016 Ford F-150 Raptor is an apex hunter. Granted, it lost its previous V8 powertrain, but you know Ford would only do that if it meant more power. And with the incoming 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, it does. This killer runs on less fuel thanks to the EcoBoost engine and a ten-speed automatic transmission. Not to mention, the Raptor has lost around 500 pounds due its industry-first aluminum body.

What makes this F-150 particularly agile in the absence of paved roads is the upgraded Fox suspension. As CNET relates, the Raptor also gets “a new computerized Terrain Management System” that optimizes “the upgraded transfer case and traction control modes to offer optimal performance regardless of conditions.”

When most other automakers are busy thinking smaller and tamer and more docile, it’s nice to see that Ford can still think big and bold. Look out for the new Raptor soon at Nick Nicholas Ford!

Ford F-150 Claims First Truck Trend Pickup Truck of the Year Award

For the first time ever, the staff at Truck Trend magazine has named their Truck Trend Pickup Truck of the Year. Redesigned for 2015 and built Ford tough with its frame constructed of aluminum and high-strength steel, it’s not hard to see why they chose the all-new Ford F-150 as the winner.

Over the course of five days of intense competition, the F-150 was put to the test alongside seven competitors to determine its speed and overall performance, hauling abilities, off-road capabilities, and fuel efficiency.

While the other trucks proved to be worthy competition, the F-150 clearly stood out above the rest.

Truck Trend Pickup Truck of the Year

“Ford has found a sweet spot in the half-ton pickup segment, delivering a compelling mix of efficiency and capability, while still delivering an enhanced driving experience that American consumers demand,” said Truck Trend’s content director, Sean P. Holman. “What we put these trucks through was nothing short of grueling, and it was the F-150 that consistently impressed our experts.”

The 2015 F-150 is available with 11 class-exclusive technologies including a 360-degree camera view and remote tailgate control. Four engines are offered as well to cater to customers’ performance and efficiency needs.

Come see us at Nick Nicholas Ford today and get behind the wheel of the 2015 Pickup Truck of the Year award-winner.

Ford Takes Majority of Finalist Spots for Car and Truck of the Year

Ford is really doing it right, snagging half of the six finalist spots for the North American Car and Truck of the Year award. Finalists were announced in Detroit on December 9th.

Car of the year finalists include the Ford Mustang, Hyundai Genesis and Volkswagen Golf and GTI. Critics and pony car fans have enjoyed this year’s new Ford Mustang, which celebrated its 50th anniversary with a sleek and powerful rework of the classic muscle car.

Car and Truck of the Year

In the truck segment the competition is the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Colorado and Lincoln MKC. The Chevrolet Colorado has already been named Motor Trend Truck of the year, but F-150 customers have been pleased with their newly redesigned, aluminum bodied F-150. It has improved fuel economy as well as speed.

Car and Truck of the Year

The Lincoln MKC, the third Ford model (Lincoln’s parent company is Ford), is essentially a bolstered version of a Ford Escort, making it a more luxurious vehicle.

We here at Nick Nicholas Ford are excited to see how our brand does in the North American Car and Truck of the Year awards. Whatever happens though, we know we’re a step above the rest.
